Arsenal keeps its star
On Tuesday night Arsenal fans got the best news they could have hoped for Arsenal’s start asset and Club captain, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang penned a new deal with the Gunners. The Gabonese will stay at Arsenal for three more years under his renewed contract. Hence, the club will hope that Aubameyang still has a lot more to give to the Arsenal brand.
Since his move to Arsenal from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018, Aubameyang has scored 55 goals in 86 Premier League games. He scored 22 goals in the Premier League last season. Aubameyang also netted twice in the FA Cup final to secure a place in the Europa League for the Gunners.
A legend in the making
After extending his contract with Arsenal, Aubameyang stated his intention to become an Arsenal legend. He said that he wanted to follow the footsteps of legends like Thierry Henry, Bergkamp and Ian Wright. The Gabonese striker also stated his positive intent for the future saying – “I believe in Arsenal. We can achieve big things together. We have something exciting here, and I believe the best is to come for Arsenal.”
Aubameyang is already a favourite amongst Arsenal fans. However, by pledging his future to the club, the striker has carved his name in the club’s history. The Gabonese won the FA cup and the Community Shield last season. But, he has struggled along with Arsenal over the previous two seasons. Thus, Mikel Arteta has done a commendable job in convincing his star asset to stay at the Emirates.
Arteta further added “It was important for Pierre-Emerick to stay with us. He’s a superb player with a great mentality. Being the player to have taken the least amount of time to reach 50 goals with this club tells you everything you need to know about him and his way of working.”
Under Mikel Arteta, Arsenal has found a new direction. The club is back to winning ways and is competing for the top spots in the Premier League. The Gunners will hope that now, with their crucial player with them they can achieve more success under the new regime.
