Football is back in Germany
After a longer than usual pause football has slowly but indeed started to return, along with the ongoing Premier League, LaLiga and Ligue 1 seasons the new Bundesliga season is all set to kick-off. The return of football in Germany will mark the start of another battle for the Meisterschalle between the top German teams.
The return also means that we get to see the European champions, Bayern Munich back in action. The Bavarians start their title defence against Schalke on the 18th.
However, this new season will mean more to the challengers than the champions. Both Leipzig and Dortmund would have felt that they threw away their title chances last season and would want to correct that this season. So, now that the new German footballing season is about to kick-off let’s see who to look out for and what will make the difference this season.
The Bundesliga has for long been Bayern vs the rest. The upcoming season sets up in the same way. Every team in Germany would like to take Bayern’s crown but, that is not easy. The Bavarians vast dominance stems from their vastly superior squad strength and depth compared to the competition. However, this time around, Dortmund has the potential to pose a severe threat. Moreover, Bayern has lost Perisic, Coutinho and are on the verge of losing Thiago as well.
The mighty Bayern, on the other hand, would like to extend their dominance. The Bavarians have won the last 8 Bundesliga titles and have a total of 30 top-flight titles. Thus, it is no surprise Bayern is the most dominant team in Germany.
However, with an exciting young attack, Dortmund will hope that they can topple Bayern dominance.
Players to look out for
There is plenty of exciting talent in the Bundesliga. However, a few stand out, with the potential to make it to the next level. Dortmund’s young starlets shine the brightest in the players to look out for this season. Jude Bellingham, Gio Reyna are youngsters with great promise. Moreover, we will also finally get to see Earling Haaland have a complete season of top-level football. It would be interesting to see if the Norwegian can keep up his top-level performances.
Outside Dortmund, Bayern’s Leroy Sane would be a fantastic player to keep an eye on. Other than that, Gladbach’s Marcus Thuram and Leipzig’s Hwang Hee-Chan are also players who possess great potential.
