Klopp vs Arteta
Arsenal travels to Anfield on Monday night to face the champions. The duel between the Gunners and Liverpool is historically famous for loads of goals and drama. This time promises to be no different as well. The sides faced each other on four occasions last season accounting for a combined 18 goals, with Liverpool getting the better of Arsenal twice.
However, since Mikel Arteta’s appointment, the Gunners have not lost to the champions. Under the Spaniard, Arsenal won the FA cup and more recently, the community shield against Liverpool. That said, Jurgen Klopp would be desperate to get one back against Arteta.
Liverpool possesses the most phenomenal home record in the league. The Reds are rampant at Anfield and more crucially have 13 goals against Arsenal at home in their last three meetings. Moreover, Manchester City’s thumping to Leicester means that the Reds can extend their lead over their primary contenders.
On the other hand, Arsenal would want to extend their impressive start to the season. The Gunners won both their opening games against Fulham and West Ham. A win at Anfield would be a tremendous boost for Arsenal’s Premier League campaign. Thus, the Gunners will have a point to prove on Monday night.
The critical battle on the pitch will undoubtedly be between Salah and Aubameyang. Mohammed Salah’s record at Anfield is phenomenal. The Egyptian loves to play at home, especially against Arsenal. He has scored against the Gunners every time they play at Anfield.
Arsenal captain Aubameyang is indispensable to the Gunners. Arsenal seems to play well when their key man plays well and recently, Aubameyang has been in scintillating form. The Arsenal captain is central to the team’s attack. So, Arsenal will need something special from their captain if they want to upset the champions.
It is hard to go against Liverpool at Anfield. The reds dominant home form, especially against Arsenal, will make them the favourites. Whatever said and done, we can be assured of an exciting game between two great teams.
